The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has agreed to a set of federally mandated policy changes to resolve 18 separate federal investigations into alleged antisemitism on campus and race-based admissions practices, according to reporting in Fox News’ “Antisemitism Exposed” newsletter.
Under the agreement with the Trump administration, UNC will ban face masks at campus protests, implement mandatory antisemitism training, and adopt admissions policies described as strictly color-blind. The university will not pay any financial penalty and did not admit wrongdoing as part of the deal.
In exchange for closing out the investigations, UNC must submit to federal oversight of its compliance through 2028 in order to continue receiving federal funding.
The agreement is part of a broader federal push examined in the newsletter, which also detailed antisemitic incidents abroad, including riots in France where synagogues canceled Sabbath prayers and Jewish residents were warned to hide religious items and avoid their homes amid clashes between Palestinian-flag-carrying mobs and police. French authorities reported more than 2,400 arrests and over 1,300 antisemitic posts flooding social media during the unrest, according to the newsletter.
The UNC settlement reflects a pattern of universities facing federal scrutiny over their handling of campus antisemitism complaints and admissions policies, with the Chapel Hill campus becoming the latest institution to accept binding oversight terms rather than contest the findings in court.
