Radio host Charlamagne Tha God is cautioning Democrats against celebrating their recent election wins for too long, arguing that voters handed them power out of frustration with Republicans rather than genuine trust in the party.
“Don’t get comfortable because, you know, a Democrat victory has not proved that they’ve earned lasting trust. Americans rejected MAGA and Republicans, but that doesn’t automatically mean they trust Democrats,” Charlamagne said.
He said he’s tired of Democrats campaigning solely on opposition to President Trump.
“I don’t want to hear another two years of Democrats telling us how dangerous Donald Trump is. We know that. OK? That’s why there was such a rebuke of Trump last night. We know he’s dangerous. That’s why y’all won. I have one question. OK? What the F are you going to do with the power that we the people just gave you, Democrats? OK?”
Charlamagne said that with control of the House and Senate, Democrats now owe voters a concrete agenda once they take office in January.
“What’s your plan to lower housing costs? Are you going to build more affordable housing? What about healthcare? Are you going to fight to lower premiums, protect Medicaid? Are you going to stop Americans from going broke because they got sick? What about wages?” he asked.
He pressed further on living standards. “People are working two and three jobs and still can’t afford to live. What are you going to do to make sure a full-time job can actually support a family?” He also called for accountability on government ethics. “What about all this corruption we’ve seen? And are we going to get real investigations into conflicts of interest? Huh? Government contracts and politicians using public office to enrich themselves? I hope so.”
Theo Wold, a former White House deputy assistant for domestic policy during Trump’s first term, dismissed Charlamagne’s remarks as “clueless” in comments to Fox News Digital.
“Once again, Charlamagne shows how clueless he is. He, like so many voters who cast ballots for Democrats, labors under the misunderstanding that Democrats have a platform or any intention of addressing affordability, healthcare, or the flat-lining wages for working families. Democrats will do exactly what revolutionary ideologues have always done: move to consolidate their power and permanently alter governing institutions.”
Wold predicted Democrats would instead pursue structural changes such as abolishing the Electoral College under the guise of addressing affordability. “But in reality, Democrats will do exactly as they’ve promised: punish their enemies and radically transform our nation,” he said.
Charlamagne also praised Democrats for steering away from culture-war messaging in favor of pocketbook issues during the campaign.
“Ain’t no talk of wokeness,” he said. “There’s no talk [of] identity politics. They’re out there talking about affordability. And you got some really great quality candidates on the Democratic side. And man, last night people voted their interest. It wasn’t about party. It wasn’t about, you know, that MAGA cult. It was about, you know what, I got to go out here and vote my interest, I’m getting my a– kicked financially.”
