Tom Brady will step back onto the field at Gillette Stadium this Sunday, not as a quarterback but as a broadcaster, calling his first New England Patriots game as a FOX NFL analyst when the 5-3 Patriots host the 5-3 Green Bay Packers (4:25 p.m. ET on FOX).
Brady spent 20 seasons in New England, starting 19 of them, and left as the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards (74,571), passing touchdowns (541) and regular-season wins (219). He guided the Patriots to six Super Bowl titles — in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2018 — before finishing his career with three seasons in Tampa Bay, winning a Super Bowl in his first year there in 2020.
Since joining FOX in 2024 as the network’s lead NFL analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, Brady has called 49 combined regular season and postseason games. Sunday will mark the first time he calls a Patriots game for the network.
Current Patriots quarterback Drake Maye addressed Brady’s homecoming at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
“It’s obviously cool,” Maye said. “What a legend to come back here, and it’s definitely cool for him, I bet, to come back and call a game in the stadium where he won so many games and was elite in this stadium, and really part of him, the fans, and their teams built Gillette into what it is now, so I bet it’s cool for him.”
“I know he hangs around the field sometimes, so just try to go appreciate him for what he left here.”
The broadcast comes as Maye, a finalist for the 2025 NFL MVP Award, has turned around a rocky start to the season. After throwing six interceptions combined and posting a 58.6 passer rating through New England’s first three games, Maye has since thrown for 1,398 yards, 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions over the team’s last five games, good for a 122.2 passer rating and a 68.8% completion rate. He has also rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns in that stretch, helping the Patriots win four of their last five contests.
Sunday’s matchup pits an AFC contender against an NFC opponent with identical 5-3 records, with Brady watching from the booth over a stadium he helped build into a dynasty.
