Kamala Harris Accused of Plagiarism in Book by Famed Investigator

Kamala Harris is facing serious allegations of plagiarism after being accused of copying content from multiple sources, including Wikipedia, for her 2010 book Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer. The revelations come as Harris’s political credibility continues to falter, raising questions about her integrity and originality.

The scandal was uncovered by Stefan Weber, a well-known Austrian plagiarism investigator. Weber has a history of exposing prominent figures, particularly German-speaking politicians, whose careers he has helped derail with his findings. According to Weber, Harris’s book contains over a dozen instances of what he describes as “vicious plagiarism fragments.”

The book, co-authored with Joan O’C. Hamilton, was released during Harris’s campaign for California Attorney General in 2010. The purpose of the book was to solidify her credibility on criminal justice issues and showcase her expertise as a prosecutor. The strategy seemed to pay off, as Harris narrowly won the election by a slim margin against her Republican opponent, Steve Cooley.

However, the recent revelations of plagiarism could now tarnish the very foundation of that success. Activist Chris Rufo, who first reported Weber’s findings, shared several examples of Harris’s alleged plagiarism on his blog and social media. According to Rufo, some of the most damning instances involve passages lifted almost directly from news sources such as AP and NBC News.

One of the key examples Rufo highlighted involved a section of Harris’s book where she writes about school graduation rates. A close comparison reveals that this portion of the text closely mirrors content from an AP/NBC News report. This raises concerns about the authenticity and originality of her work, especially since the book was meant to bolster her credibility as a criminal justice reformer.

The plagiarism accusations come at a time when Harris’s political standing is already shaky. Her approval ratings have plummeted due to several high-profile missteps, including embarrassing interview performances and a lackluster campaign. Many voters are also growing increasingly frustrated with her policies, which they see as being too closely aligned with President Joe Biden’s.

Harris’s team has yet to issue an official response to the allegations, but the scandal has already gained traction, particularly in conservative circles. Critics argue that this is further proof of Harris’s lack of original ideas and question her ability to lead on important issues if she cannot produce her own work.

Below is another example of Harris’s theft. This comes from a Bureau of Justice Assistance report, which she found in a link via Wikipedia.

The final plagiarism example provided by Rufo is from Harris lifting language from an Urban Institute report. While doing so, she was supposedly ‘trying’ to describe a nonprofit group.

Biden’s first presidential campaign was derailed when he stole from the speeches of famous British politician Neil Kinnock in an effort to portray himself as a sophisticated leader. Harris’s own plagiarism scandal would sink her for good in a just country and world.

But the media remains all-in on propping up the arguably most dangerous and unprepared presidential candidate in American history due to their fear of her opponent, President Trump.
