According to the Carolina Journal, a student who is 16 years old and attends Central Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina, received a three-day suspension last week.
This was due to using the term ‘illegal alien’ during a vocabulary assignment in English class.
Leah McGhee, the mother of the student, reported that the vocabulary exercise included the word ‘alien’.
Trying to clarify, her son inquired, “Like space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards?”
This question sparked a conflict with another student, which escalated to the point where the teacher had to bring in the assistant principal.
Following their investigation, the school administration deemed McGhee’s son’s words as ‘offensive and disrespectful’ towards Hispanic classmates, resulting in his suspension.
In his defense, the student stated, “I didn’t make a statement directed towards anyone; I asked a question. I wasn’t speaking of Hispanics because everyone from other countries needs green cards, and the term ‘illegal alien’ is an actual term that I hear on the news and can find in the dictionary.”
According to the Carolina Journal, the suspension has the potential to blemish the student’s academic record and put his athletic scholarship aspirations at risk.
In addition to excelling academically, he is deeply involved in school clubs, track, and cross country as a dedicated athlete.
Leah McGhee wrote in an email to local officials, “He is devastated and concerned that the racism label on his school record will harm his future goal of receiving a track scholarship.
We are concerned that he will fall behind in his classes due to being absent for three consecutive days.”
Despite efforts to resolve the issue, the assistant principal has not approved removing the infraction from the student’s record.
The family has hired a lawyer to address the situation to avoid any lasting negative consequences on the student’s future.
State Senator Steve Jarvis has contacted the school district’s superintendent, stressing the importance of a just resolution while admitting his limited knowledge of the incident details.
Davidson County Schools chose not to comment on this specific case but referred to the student handbook, which outlines restrictions on free speech that can be enforced for obscene or abusive language or speech that may significantly disrupt school activities.
Elon Musk has expressed his thoughts on the matter, calling the incident “ridiculous.”
The Gateway Pundit’s request for comment from Central Davidson High School in Lexington went unanswered.
In 2021, Joe Biden introduced proposed changes to immigration policies.
These efforts included a plan to establish an eight-year path to citizenship for around 11 million undocumented illegals in the U.S. and eliminating the use of the term ‘alien’ in legal language, which he claims is “dehumanizing.”
I’m pretty sure the term “illegal alien” has been used as the official term for the U.S. Government for a very long time.
That didn’t stop Biden from trying to ban it in 2021.

Sounds like a law suit to me. He could have been referring to Pakistani’s,Iraqis,Venezuelans, Africans,Chinese, all of these people have crossed our borders illegally and are in fact ILLEGAL ALIENS. Me thinks these woke speech police need to have their bank accounts drained,…..for years.

Sue the HELL out of the teacher, the principal and the district. Ask for qualified immunity to be REMOVED. If the word is in the dictionary and its use is common even in the news, the ONLY RACISM practiced was against an ANGLO STUDENT and the offense was generated by racists within the class.
The term was posed as a question for the teacher to elaborate on CONTENT she wanted. I guess she answered that plainly and with descriminaotry action against an anglo based on her perceptions. Offense taken does not mean offense was given, in context this is a violation of this student’s 1st amendment rights. Something that I did in High School became example in college curriculum because I bought it and we won.
Place me in the jury, one million against the principal, one million against the teacher (who could have used this as a teaching moment but instead made insanity of it), One million against the DISTRICT for not stepping up and ending this problem, and one million against the district superintendent who should have ended this by teaching the teacher and disciplining the principal. Total 4 million dollars against the district.
If the student was a different color, nothing would have happened.
