A 65-year-old man was found dead Sunday afternoon on Disneyland property in Anaheim, on a sidewalk near the resort’s south entrance off Katella Avenue, according to Anaheim police.
Officers responded shortly before 1:45 p.m. to a report of an unconscious man between the resort hotels and a park entrance. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Eric Anderson told Fox News Digital.
Anderson said investigators found no signs of trauma or foul play, and the man’s death appeared to be from natural causes. His identity had not been released, with any formal identification expected to come from the coroner’s office, which will also determine the official cause of death.
The sidewalk where he was found sits on Disneyland property rather than public land. The south entrance is distinct from the park’s main entrance and was created to give guests staying at nearby resort hotels a more direct route into the park.
Anderson said the man was known to the Anaheim Police Department’s homeless liaison officers, who regularly check on people experiencing homelessness in the area, offer assistance and inform them when they may be in violation of the law. He said the man’s prior contacts with those officers were part of that outreach effort and were not connected to any arrests or criminal activity.
A beer can was found near the man, though investigators said they did not know whether it had any bearing on his condition or death.
Officers remained at the scene while awaiting coroner’s office personnel to recover the body. Photos and video from the scene showed police tape across the sidewalk beneath a large Disneyland Resort entrance sign, with a black privacy screen set up to shield the area from view during the investigation.
Disneyland Resort’s media relations office confirmed that Anaheim police had responded but referred further questions to the police department.
