A group of unauthorized immigrants recently engaged in a tense confrontation with Border Patrol agents while attempting to scale the border wall between Texas and Mexico, as shown in aerial footage taken by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The video, filmed this week, showed the unauthorized immigrants using a rope ladder to descend over the border wall.
As law enforcement officials approached, individuals on the other side of the wall threw rocks and sand at them, according to Texas DPS.
One person was also seen throwing water bottles at authorities during their attempts to make arrests.
The footage depicted two individuals engaged in a tug of war with a Border Patrol agent over the rope ladder while perched on top of the wall. Eventually, they gave up and retreated back into Mexico.
The Santa Teresa Station is situated in the El Paso Sector where, according to Customs and Border Protection data, there have been over 180,000 encounters in the first seven months of fiscal year 2024.
“This week, DPS provided air support to Border Patrol Agents responding to a group of illegal immigrants attempting to climb the border wall near the Santa Teresa [Port of Entry] & illegally enter the U.S. The video illustrates recent behavior by these groups in the El Paso Sector—throwing rocks, sand & water bottles at responding agents,” Texas DPS wrote in a Thursday post on X.
In March, more than 200 illegal aliens were reported to have torn down the concertina wire at the border and forcibly passed through Texas National Guardsmen at Gate 36, a closed area of the border.
The altercation, captured on video, led to accusations of riot participation against the mostly adult male immigrants.
WATCH:
El Paso County Judge Ruben Morales dismissed the charges, citing a lack of transfer orders from district to county court as the reason.
A similar incident occurred on April 22, with Morales again dropping charges due to a perceived lack of “probable cause.”
District Attorney Bill Hicks subsequently sought a grand jury’s decision after Morales declined to review additional evidence.
Ultimately, an El Paso citizens’ group overruled Morales and indicted over 140 illegal aliens on misdemeanor riot participation charges.
