Former President Donald Trump has been consistently highlighting his economic achievements since the start of his campaign almost two years ago.
However, a surprising revelation came when one of President Joe Biden’s cabinet secretaries openly acknowledged that the economy was thriving during Trump’s tenure.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo made this admission during an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street,” as reported by Breitbart.
Raimondo was at one point asked about Vice President Kamala Harris’ economic program, with Sara Eisen noting that “the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget found that her plans would increase the federal budget deficits by 1.7 trillion.”
“Now, neither party is really talking about fiscal responsibility, but the last thing we need now is to add to already very high deficits at a time of low unemployment,” she continued before asking, “Does the party not care about that anymore?”
“Of course we do,” said Raimondo, who added that it is “laughable” to “criticize Democrats about the deficit, when it was Donald Trump who exploded the deficit with his reckless tax cuts” during “a time of economic prosperity.”
“Every business owner — as I used to be — every governor, every president knows, in good times, that’s when you want to save and bring down the deficit,” she insisted.
“So, what Trump did was, somehow, he managed to explode the deficit, even in the middle of a booming economy,” the commerce secretary declared.
It is noteworthy that Raimondo’s comments were made less than a week after a YouGov poll revealed that voters are more inclined to trust Trump over Harris in terms of the economy.
The survey indicated that 42% of registered voters anticipate an increase in the cost of food and groceries if Harris is elected, compared to 22% who expect a decrease.
In contrast, 42% believe that the cost of food and groceries will decrease if Trump is re-elected, while only 37% think they will become more expensive.
In addition, the New York Post reported that Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance recently criticized the vice president’s approach to inflation.
