CBP and the Coast Guard intercepted a boat carrying 22 illegal immigrants, including 13 Chinese nationals, near Key Largo on Tuesday, a rare occurrence for a Caribbean maritime crossing.
ICE deported six illegal immigrants last week with convictions including murder, vehicular homicide, indecent behavior with juveniles, and armed robbery, several of whom had been previously deported and reentered the country illegally multiple times.
DHS General Counsel James Percival warned immigration attorneys that meritless asylum claims clogging the 2.3 million-case backlog will draw penalties, following a nearly $500,000 fine levied against one lawyer in July.
