American universities have been under scrutiny for not revealing substantial funding from China. According to a recent report, UC Berkeley received $87.5 million from China since 2013. Additionally, the university reported separate funds of $59.4 million from Hong Kong and $57.5 million from Taiwan. Georgia Tech also accepted foreign funds amounting to $162.8 million, with at least $32.3 million coming from China. This information comes from OpenTheBooks, which highlights failures in reporting foreign funding at these institutions.
A House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party found these oversights indicative of larger issues. Their investigation suggests that there might be “likely hundreds of millions, if not billions in total” of unreported Chinese funds entering American universities. This financial influx raises concerns about transparency and the potential influence of foreign governments on U.S. education.
Both UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech were involved with the Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI), a collaborative program with Tsinghua University in China. This partnership raised alarms due to its role in transferring U.S. technologies and expertise to China. Some of these transfers are linked to China’s defense and security apparatus, which has been criticized for human rights abuses. Amid these concerns, both universities began cutting ties with their Chinese partners.
Programs like TBSI are reportedly managed by China’s State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. The administration’s goal is to “strengthen military forces with additional personnel and more advanced equipment,” as noted in the OpenTheBooks report. This raises questions about the broader implications of such partnerships on U.S. national security.
The unreported funding at Georgia Tech went unnoticed for eight years, attributed to being “unintentionally omitted.” During the first Trump Administration, a House committee discovered $6.5 billion in unreported funding from countries posing national security threats. This highlights a pattern of neglect in reporting foreign contributions across several universities.
Other institutions, like Ohio State University and the University of Texas, have also received substantial foreign funds, primarily from China. These findings underscore the need for greater transparency and accountability in handling foreign donations to educational institutions.
The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech for comments, but neither responded immediately. The lack of response adds to the growing concern over the universities’ accountability in managing foreign funds.
The influence of foreign funding on American universities has been a topic of debate, with right-leaning commentators advocating for stricter regulations. They argue that universities should prioritize national interests and safeguard against foreign influence, particularly from nations with contentious relations with the U.S.
The report by OpenTheBooks has intensified discussions around the integrity of academic institutions. It calls for a reevaluation of how universities report and manage foreign donations, especially those from countries with differing political agendas.
These revelations are pushing American universities to reconsider their international partnerships. The emphasis is on ensuring that these collaborations do not compromise U.S. security or academic independence.
For some, this situation serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in global educational exchanges. While international collaboration can enrich academic experiences, it also necessitates vigilance and transparency.
The ongoing investigations and reports aim to hold universities accountable while protecting national interests. They also highlight the importance of clear reporting standards and thorough oversight in managing foreign contributions to higher education.
As the debate continues, stakeholders are urging for reforms that ensure transparency and protect the integrity of American educational institutions. The focus remains on fostering an environment where academic and national priorities align without external interference.
The situation has sparked a broader conversation about the role of foreign funding in shaping educational policies and research agendas. Many believe that safeguarding academic independence is crucial for maintaining the quality and credibility of American universities.
Ultimately, the findings from OpenTheBooks have prompted a reevaluation of existing policies and practices. They serve as a catalyst for change, encouraging universities to adopt more stringent measures in managing foreign funds while prioritizing U.S. interests.

Today in a commentary I wrote I mentioned this very subject of what is happening in our Universities to mold and indoctrinate young minds to the corrupt and even evil Communist Atheist Mindset!
It follows here.
And the real problem like I say is many people are sick in their heads, but also in their hearts or souls not having proper respect and morality that governs their thoughts actions and behaviors and until society as a whole admits this is the underlying cause of the many crimes and breakdown of society and civility nothing will get better! And saying the guns are the cause is just passing the buck and helping the very evil monsters of society that pull many puppet strings to try and take guns away from Americans which will help those monsters to have totalitarian control and bring on socialism, communism or even a modern Nazi Gestapo! What the Demoncrap party has been doing over just the last four years is an example and proof of what I mean as the DOJ has been the most corrupt that it’s ever been with all the law-fare and targeted prosecutions of pro-life advocates; which is exactly how the Nazi Gestapo operated under Hitler in attacking and taking down what it called vermin back then!
The real problem is the poisoning of young people’s minds and many school systems getting WOKE or Left Leaning along with the Universities for sure with their socialist professors who indoctrinate youth here in America for a living! Our culture shift with so much stupidity or occult entwined in it from the music to all forms of entertainment and especially the cyber-world now infects young minds and molds degenerates or worse! I assure anyone this is all work of Satan!
I think much of the youth today don’t grow up with a proper sense of human decency, morality and respect for life and God!
Again and again I see and read about young people who carry on in ways that are so twisted and even stupid that would never happen when I was a youth, and I know I had “a good foundation of morality and right versus wrong upbringing” and that “my actions would always have consequences,” so I had to make “proper decisions” to not allow suffering or tragedy to occur because of what I may have done or not done! “Taking responsibility was ingrained in me from boyhood!”
God bless all who are involved in these tragic circumstances and trying to make a difference for the better.
Amen.
