Actress Anne Hathaway, 43, who is expecting her third child, said in a recent interview promoting her new film “Verity” that if she ever wrote a book, it would be about pelvic floor health.
“I would probably want to write on pelvic floor health…” Hathaway said. “I would just want to interview every single expert I could find and write, like, a bible that would actually really help a lot of women.”
Hathaway has had a busy year professionally, with releases including “The Odyssey,” “Mother Mary” and “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” She said there was little information available to her about pelvic floor health when she was younger, but that focusing on it as an adult improved her strength, energy and overall quality of life.
Pelvic floor issues are common. Research cited in coverage of Hathaway’s remarks found that around 40% of women experience at least one pelvic floor problem, such as urinary incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse, and not only those who have been pregnant or given birth.
A market responds
Her comments have drawn attention to a topic often left out of mainstream health discussion, and to the range of products marketed for pelvic floor training — including physical therapy, Kegel exercises, breathing techniques and fitness devices.
One such product, the MERACH Pelvic Floor Exercise Device, is currently priced under $20, discounted 33% ahead of Amazon’s October Prime Day, which runs Oct. 6 through Oct. 7, 2026. The device has a rotating pad, an adjustable leg trap for inner-thigh exercises, and a display that tracks repetitions, duration and calories burned.
One customer review said: “This thing is the real deal! I love that you can adjust the resistance easily and that it counts for you. It’s easy to use and it works great. I can feel the burn almost immediately after using it, and it’s comfortable to use. It can be easily hidden away because of its small size and its light weight.”
Separate research has found that pelvic floor muscle training can help improve urinary incontinence and reduce involuntary leakage, and that daily training over six months can improve symptoms in women with prolapse.
Amazon’s October Prime Day, also called Prime Big Deal Days, is a member-exclusive fall sales event that runs Oct. 6-7, 2026, ahead of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping season. Shoppers who are not Prime members can access a 30-day free trial to take advantage of sale pricing.
