A Milwaukee elementary school Halloween party became the latest chapter in the Brewers-Dodgers rivalry after a young fan showed up dressed as a bloodied Los Angeles Dodgers player, less than a day after his hometown team completed a stunning four-game sweep of the two-time defending World Series champions in the National League Championship Series.
The boy wore a full Dodgers uniform, complete with baseball pants and fake blood, and delivered a one-line gag that has since circulated widely online: “Ow, I got beat up by the Brewers.” His mother, Alexa Dobry, posted the video to Instagram on Friday.
The clip quickly drew attention beyond Milwaukee. On Reddit, one user asked why the school’s Halloween party was being held two weeks early. Another replied with a jab referencing the Dodgers’ heavily deferred player salaries and last year’s reversed outcome between the two teams: “Maybe it’s a party deferred from last year.”
A rotation full of stars, zero wins
The sweep is notable given the roster the Dodgers fielded. Los Angeles entered the series with a starting rotation that included two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal, 2025 World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, and All-Star Tyler Glasnow. Despite that collection of talent, the Dodgers held a lead in all four games of the series and still failed to win any of them.
The result marked the first NLCS sweep in Dodgers franchise history. It came almost exactly a year after Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in the same round of the 2024 playoffs.
The Brewers, who finished the regular season with an MLB-best 103 wins, are now headed to their first World Series appearance since 1982. The Dodgers, meanwhile, are left to examine how a roster built around multiple Cy Young and MVP-caliber arms could not produce a single victory in the series.
