A homeless man known locally as “Tiger” was caught on video violently attacking a man outside a bar on Bleecker Street in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, then rifling through his pockets before helping the unconscious victim back to his feet.
The footage, posted to social media on Oct. 17, shows Tiger — identified by police as Noel-Teru Gibson, 44 — following an unidentified man across the street outside The Red Lion bar before stepping in front of him and blocking his path with his arms spread wide.
The man shoved Tiger in the back. Tiger responded by punching him repeatedly in the side of the face from behind, knocking him to the ground. The man’s head struck a scaffolding pole as he fell.
Video shows Tiger then going through the unconscious man’s pockets, pulling out what appears to be an ID badge and a cell phone.
What happened next was stranger still: Tiger handed the man his belongings back, patted him on the shoulder, and attempted to pick him up and drag him off the street. Later footage shows the victim walking on his own, with a visible bruise developing along his jawline.
The NYPD said it has no record of an arrest connected to the Oct. 17 incident.
Prior arrest for public lewdness
Tiger was arrested separately on Oct. 14 after police said he was dancing and gyrating while completely nude on Bleecker Street. Video of that arrest showed him in his underwear, wearing a tail, arguing with two police officers. He was charged with public lewdness and harassment, according to the NYPD.
Residents of Greenwich Village have previously described Tiger’s behavior in the neighborhood as increasingly volatile. One father, who spoke anonymously, told The Post that Tiger chased his son earlier this year and that his young daughter saw him naked on the street on her way to school.
