The LSU women’s basketball team set the record for the largest margin of victory in Division I history on Thursday night in Baton Rouge, overwhelming Texas Southern in a game that included a scoreless second quarter for the opponent.
LSU, ranked No. 9 nationally entering the contest, faced a Texas Southern team that opened its season with a 40-point loss to Tulane. The gap only widened from there. LSU outscored Texas Southern 40-0 in the second quarter and put together a 106-9 run spanning the final three quarters of the game.
One statistic stood out above the rest: Texas Southern went 13 possessions in the second quarter without getting the ball inside the three-point line.
LSU’s roster carries an NIL valuation of roughly $6 million this season, the second-highest in women’s college basketball. A comparable figure for Texas Southern was not available.

In San Francisco, the Golden State Warriors held their Pride night on Thursday. During the singing of the national anthem, a small rainbow flag was visible on the court.
Anthem singer Jason Brock addressed the moment afterward in a post on X, writing, “Wow I didn’t interpret it like this, but I wasn’t watching the players. Just because they were laughing doesn’t mean it was because of the anthem.”
