The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement has released a statement urging the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to conduct a “virtual snap primary” and expressing dissatisfaction with the selection of Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s presidential candidate.
The group voiced concerns about where Harris stands on certain issues and criticized what they perceive as the DNC’s unilateral decision-making.
In their statement issued on Tuesday, BLM acknowledged that while President Joe Biden was not their preferred candidate, they felt compelled to address what they viewed as troubling actions by the Democratic Party.
They called for a nationwide primary to be held before the Democratic National Convention in August, voicing opposition to the reported nomination of Harris based on delegate counts.
Furthermore, BLM emphasized that they reject authoritarianism and stressed that delegates should not be considered oligarchs, asserting that they do not live in a dictatorship.
“We do not live in a dictatorship,” the group wrote. “Delegates are not oligarchs. Any attempt to evade or override the will of voters in our primary system-must be condemned. We demand an informal, virtual snap primary now that the incumbent president is no longer in the running.”
The statement from the group came after President Joe Biden revealed on Sunday that he was not seeking another term as president, and endorsed Harris to be the party’s presidential nominee.
“Black Lives Matter demands that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) immediately host an informal, virtual snap primary across the country prior to the DNC convention in August,” BLM wrote in the statement. “We call for the Rules Committee to create a process that allows for public participation in the nomination process, not just a nomination by party delegates.”
BLM characterized the current political landscape within the Democratic Party as “unprecedented” following Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race and his decision not to pursue reelection.
“This moment calls for decisive action to protect the integrity of our democracy and the voices of Black voters,” the group added. “While Joe Biden wasn’t our preferred candidate, we cannot ignore the troubling actions of the Democratic Party.”

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) group criticized the party for its concerning actions, including the refusal to host primary debates that voters wanted to see.
They also pointed out that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) changed the primary schedule and set rules that made it difficult for other candidates to appear on the ballot.
BLM highlighted how after a poor debate performance by Joe Biden, party elites and wealthy donors allegedly pressured him to drop out of the race.
Following Biden’s exit, prominent Democrats such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore endorsed Kamala Harris.
BLM accused the party’s elites and wealthy donors of attempting to influence Black voters by favoring Harris.
“This is not an attack on Kamala Harris or Black women, and right now we aren’t questioning Kamala’s qualifications or capabilities," said Shalomyah Bowers, a Black Lives Matter leader. "This is about the nominating process."

Besides the Democrats, who gives a dang what “these people” want. F them.
I find their objections fairly humorous. Wasn’t Kamila the one who organized a fund to free all those arrested during the Floyd riots initiated by BLM? Shouldn’t they be beholding to her?
Will Willie Brown “anoint” her AGAIN??
