A fight broke out at Lumen Field in Seattle on Wednesday night during the NFL season opener, pitting a single Patriots fan against multiple Seahawks supporters. Video circulating online shows punches thrown from several directions before the visiting fan was taken away in handcuffs.
Eyewitness accounts posted on X point to a dispute over seating as the spark. A Seattle fan posting under the handle Hawkaholic12 wrote that the confrontation began when the Patriots fan and a companion were sitting in seats that belonged to someone else.
“I was right there, it wasnt a race thing. The Pats fan and his nasty ass girl were in someone else’s seats,” Hawkaholic12 wrote. “When the rightful owner of those seats asked him to get out of THEIR seats the Pats fan kept talking crap and touching the guys chin. The Pats fan also SHOVED a Sr citizen.”
A second account, posted by a user going by JoeGurt, described a similar sequence of events in section 314 of the stadium.
“It started over seats. A Patriots fan sat in empty ones that weren’t his in section 314,” JoeGurt wrote. “Stadium ushers told him to move and he refused. When security arrived, he collided with (or knocked over) a stadium staffer. One Seahawks fan then tried to shove him out of the section, and the whole thing exploded into a multi-person brawl. Police ended up walking him out in cuffs.”
Video of the incident also shows a woman, apparently the Patriots fan’s girlfriend or wife, involved in the confrontation. She can be heard alleging that a Seahawks fan used a racial slur during the dispute, an account that runs counter to the version offered by the two Seattle-based eyewitnesses cited above.
No further details on charges, injuries, or an official statement from Seattle police or King County authorities have been made public.
