A makeup artist who built her business glamming up NFL wives and girlfriends before game day has expanded her services to college football, bringing what’s known as “WAG culture” to campuses in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Allison Kaye, who runs “Game Day Glam,” started her business doing makeup for NFL wives and girlfriends before kickoff. This season she began offering the same service to college athletes’ girlfriends, starting at Ohio State earlier this month, where she did makeup for four players’ girlfriends. She then traveled to Penn State and did makeup for six more.
Kaye doesn’t simply show up with a makeup kit. She turns her hotel room into what’s described as a full “glam suite,” complete with food, drinks, team decorations and free products supplied by beauty brands. The girlfriends pay for the service themselves, sometimes using money their boyfriends have earned through name, image and likeness deals.
Her weekends are reportedly booked for the remainder of the college football season. With 134 FBS football teams and a large number of players, there is no shortage of potential clients for the growing service.
Herbert and Beer’s engagement
Elsewhere in football-adjacent celebrity news, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert’s team is off to an 0-3 start this season. But his personal life offers a contrast: singer Madison Beer recently appeared on Twitch and discussed their engagement, which happened in July. She called the proposal “magical” and noted it took place exactly one year after Herbert asked her to be his girlfriend. Beer said she feels lucky to have found him.
NASCAR’s swear jar
In other sports culture notes, NASCAR has implemented a swear jar and is keeping a running tally of which expletives are used most often during races, though the specific word topping the list was not disclosed.
The items were reported as part of a roundup of sports and culture stories, which also touched on a recent trip to Branson, Missouri, for the SMX World Championship Final and the YETI Open on Table Rock Lake.
