A former CIA officer has raised alarming questions about mysterious drone sightings in New Jersey and Virginia, suggesting they may be part of a covert government program to detect nuclear threats. Kevin Shipp, a former CIA officer and whistleblower, speculated during a recent podcast interview that these drones might be searching for radiation spikes, possibly linked to missing Soviet-era “suitcase” nuclear devices.
The sightings, which began in mid-November, have baffled officials and the public alike. Shipp’s claims have added a chilling layer to the mystery, drawing attention to the potential implications of these covert operations.
Speaking on the John Solomon Reports podcast, Shipp explained that the drones could be equipped with advanced Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) detectors. These devices are used to identify high levels of radiation and other hazardous substances.
“My concern is that these are radiation-detecting drones under a covert CIA plausible deniability program,” Shipp said. “If they’re sniffing for radiation, my big concern is that this could be one of these suitcase devices.”
Shipp referred to small nuclear weapons, often called “suitcase nukes,” which were allegedly sold on the black market after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Many of these weapons remain unaccounted for, fueling fears they could be in the wrong hands.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been tracking the drones, which have appeared near significant sites, including military bases and the airspace around President-elect Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf club in New Jersey.
“The drones are over areas where we need to ask serious questions,” Shipp stated. “Why are they near Department of Defense (DOD) facilities? What potential targets could they be focusing on?”
The FAA issued two flight restrictions in response to the sightings, but federal agencies, including the Pentagon, have assured the public there is no immediate threat. However, the lack of clarity has done little to ease concerns.
Shipp criticized federal agencies for their vague responses, accusing them of hiding the true purpose of the drones.
“This falls under the CIA’s doctrine of plausible deniability,” Shipp alleged. “They can conduct operations like this and deny knowledge as long as it’s not directly traceable to the White House or the administration.”
According to Shipp, the CIA has a history of operating programs designed to remain undisclosed to the public. These include advanced surveillance and counterterrorism measures, which are often classified under national security protocols.
Despite multiple requests for information, agencies like the FBI and CIA have remained tight-lipped about the drone sightings. Federal officials have stated that there is no evidence of foreign involvement, nor do they believe the drones pose a danger to the public.
Shipp, however, remains unconvinced. “The Pentagon’s response has been far from reassuring,” he said. “They’re not being truthful about the nature of these drones.”
The mysterious flights have sparked widespread speculation. Are the drones conducting routine surveillance, or could they be part of a high-stakes effort to prevent a nuclear catastrophe? Shipp’s comments have reignited concerns about the possibility of unaccounted-for nuclear weapons from the Soviet era and the lengths governments might go to address such threats.
His theory has also raised questions about federal transparency. Why has there been so little information about the drones’ purpose or origin? And if these flights are part of a classified operation, what risks are being mitigated behind the scenes?
For now, the mystery surrounding the drones remains unresolved. Federal officials have downplayed the significance of the sightings, but Shipp’s alarming analysis has left the public demanding answers.
“If these drones are part of a nuclear threat detection program, we need to know what’s being done to keep us safe,” Shipp said. “This isn’t just about curiosity—this could be about preventing a catastrophic event.”
Until more details emerge, the true purpose of these mysterious flights will continue to fuel speculation, leaving open the possibility that something far more significant is unfolding in the skies over New Jersey and Virginia.

More unreliable speculation driven by the absence of information from our lying government. PS: hey dailynewscycle — how about covering actual news rather than reports that cannot be confirmed. This clown is just looking for a media payday.

For what purpose? Martial Law to cancel Trump Inauguration?
They’ve been conspiring for years to “establish totalitarian control;” but the People managed to finally tell them with Trump “to shove it up their asses a country mile!” So yes “desperate times call for desperate measures!”

Ohh, BTW…Sink the Iranian command ship of the East Coast …3 WEEKS AGO!
The DNC/DOD/CIA/Deep State knew it was coming and allowed it, just in time for a DNC/DOD/CIA/Deep State sanctioned drone strike on the Trump Inauguration.
