The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has quietly closed its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) office as the political winds in Washington shift sharply rightward. The decision, finalized in December 2024, signals a significant change in priorities for the nation’s top law enforcement agency, one that aligns with mounting Republican criticism of DEI initiatives.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, the FBI confirmed the closure:
“In recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), effective by December 2024.”
While the agency did not elaborate on its reasons for shuttering the office, many believe it to be a preemptive move ahead of Donald Trump’s return to the White House and his expected nomination of Kash Patel as FBI Director. Both Trump and Patel have made their disdain for “woke” policies like DEI clear, with promises to refocus federal agencies on their core missions.
The closure of the DEI office marks a significant shift for the FBI, which, like many government and corporate entities, had embraced DEI programs in recent years. These initiatives aimed to increase diversity within the organization and promote equity and inclusion across all levels of the Bureau. However, critics have long argued that such programs detract from the FBI’s primary mission of ensuring national security.
Conservative lawmakers have been especially vocal about their concerns. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) wrote a scathing letter to former FBI Director Christopher Wray following a New Year’s terror attack in New Orleans, accusing the Bureau of prioritizing DEI initiatives over public safety.
“I am deeply concerned that—under your leadership—the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people,” Blackburn wrote.
Wray, who announced his resignation in December 2024, stepped down just weeks before Trump’s inauguration, likely to avoid being dismissed by the incoming administration.
The FBI is not alone in abandoning DEI programs. Major corporations across the U.S.—including Walmart, Meta, Boeing, Ford, and John Deere—have recently scaled back or eliminated their DEI efforts. The shift comes after sustained criticism from activists, conservative politicians, and public figures who argue that DEI fosters division rather than unity.
Robby Starbuck, a prominent conservative activist, has been among the loudest voices opposing DEI. According to Starbuck and his allies, DEI prioritizes “equity”—a concept they argue is incompatible with a merit-based capitalist system—over excellence.
“DEI is rotten to the core and divides more than it unites by obsessing over our differences instead of celebrating common ground,” said Starbuck.
Critics have also linked DEI policies to crises in other sectors. They claim that a misplaced focus on “woke” priorities has contributed to recruiting challenges in the military, operational failures in New Orleans during a terror attack, and mismanagement within the Los Angeles Fire Department, which is struggling to combat wildfires while spending millions on DEI initiatives.
The FBI’s decision to close its DEI office appears to be part of a broader effort to align with Trump’s America First agenda. With Trump poised to retake the presidency, federal agencies are likely bracing for a significant overhaul of their policies and leadership.
Kash Patel, Trump’s expected pick for FBI Director, has been a vocal critic of DEI and other progressive policies. His appointment is anticipated to mark a return to what Republicans view as a more focused and effective approach to national security.
The DEI office’s closure may also reflect an acknowledgment within the FBI that its priorities must shift to meet the expectations of the new administration.
The elimination of the DEI office is about more than just policy—it’s a symbolic rejection of the progressive ideals that have shaped much of the federal government in recent years. For critics of DEI, it represents a return to a focus on merit, excellence, and national security over what they see as divisive identity politics.
“DEI has no place in our top law enforcement agency,” said one conservative commentator. “The FBI’s mission is to protect Americans, not to play identity politics.”
The closure of the DEI office is likely just the beginning of broader changes within the FBI and other federal agencies as Trump and his allies take the reins. For many conservatives, this marks a long-overdue course correction. For progressives, it’s a troubling sign of things to come.
As the nation braces for Trump’s return to the White House, the dismantling of DEI programs at the FBI serves as a stark reminder of the ideological battles shaping America’s future. Whether this move will improve the FBI’s performance or deepen the nation’s divisions remains to be seen.

It’s odd for a federal agency to preemptively make changes before a new president takes office. If the DOJ is an impartial law enforcement agency, as we’ve been told a million times, then why would they have to dismantle any department or hide any information in anticipation of a Trump presidency? The whole thing stinks and there’s probably more to the story that we’re not getting. Are employees being fired? Or is everyone just being moved to a new division to continue the same function? I know how hard it is to fire a federal employee, so I’m pretty sure they’re just taking a bunch of DEI warriors and moving them around.
If all these organizations did not know intuitively that DEI is wrong, why close shop and destroy records? Looks like planned coverup to me.
All documents in that department belong to the US government. Destroying the documents would be “criminal destruction of government property” and be a chargeable offense
If all these criminals Crazy Joe let out of jail doesn’t show how mentally ill this crazy idiot is what will.We should be able to reverse every one of these due to his incompetence. He is like a little two year old throwing a temper tantrum because they forced him out of office. He will go down in history as the worst President in history and he has made
Jimmy Carter look brilliant.
WILLIAM KAISER, this did say it all; “a little two year old throwing a temper tantrum.”
Biden is that kind of vindictive and absolutely evil to his core despotic and demonic influenced monster whoever served the American People; which has been “his charge and oath of office as an elected official” for over 50 years! But he did grow during his service, and “became a servant of diabolical evil” over those years, and I’m positive he did and is still doing the Devil’s work
I highlight these excerpts from the article that drive the stake home!
“I am deeply concerned that—under your leadership—the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people,” Blackburn wrote.
“DEI prioritizes “equity”—a concept they argue is incompatible with a merit-based capitalist system—over excellence.”
“DEI is rotten to the core and divides more than it unites by obsessing over our differences instead of celebrating common ground,” said Starbuck.”
It should be obvious to anyone with a clue that this whole agenda has been inserted into our government system “to ruin America and make it a hellish shambles” of its “once greatness and high quality” earned over time “by merit and the achievements” of many “high quality human beings” who wanted to make a difference for the better always!”
If Americans don’t want to DIE along with this Nation, then “DEI must absolutely DIE!”
And this move is absolutely being done to cover-up as they have so much to hide of their nefarious enemies within agenda!
