A harrowing home invasion unfolded in Michigan over the weekend, resulting in a dramatic shoot-out that was captured on surveillance cameras, as reported by WJBK-TV. The incident took place at the residence of 24-year-old Benjamin Nevers in Dearborn Heights on a Saturday morning.
According to WXYZ-TV, Nevers and a friend had just returned from a trip to the Bahamas when two intruders brazenly broke into his home through a kitchen window.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Nevers expressed relief that the situation hadn’t ended in fatality. “I’m kind of glad the guy who shot me is still alive, too. I don’t want to kill nobody,” he shared with WJBK. Surveillance footage depicts Nevers’ friend lying face down in the living room, held at gunpoint by the intruders who were rifling through the house, searching for valuables like studio equipment and jewelry.
Nevers recounted the moment of realization to WJBK, saying, “Then I woke up, and I was just quick enough to react to grab my gun and cock it, and I just sat there and kind of waited. I knew they were going to come to my room.” The surveillance footage captures the tense moments inside Nevers’ bedroom, with him poised and ready, gun aimed at the door. As soon as one of the gunmen entered, a shoot-out erupted.
During the exchange, Nevers was shot in the foot by one of the intruders. Despite his injury, he managed to fire back, hitting the gunman in the leg. Exterior cameras later captured the suspect limping and nearly crawling out of the house, clearly wounded.
In the aftermath, Nevers revealed to WJBK that his injuries were severe. His foot was “completely shattered” and required “immediate surgery” involving “screws and plates.” Additionally, Nevers suffered a hit to the back, while his girlfriend, who was in bed behind him during the gunfire, was also injured.
“I know she got shot in the back, and it … traveled up and … hit her kidney, and I think it’s lodged in her chest right now … they can’t get the bullet out ’cause it’s too dangerous,” he explained, adding that her condition was being closely monitored.
Reflecting on why he might have been targeted, Nevers speculated that his substantial social media presence, stemming from his past as a party promoter, might have made him a mark for the criminals.
He mentioned to WJBK that the intruders attempted to make off with a bag containing “a bottle of Don Julio” and “a chocolate bar,” noting that “there was a studio microphone” as well. “These guys did this for nothing,” he lamented.
Despite the trauma, Nevers expressed gratitude that everyone involved survived. “I’m just happy everybody is alive and well. I’m kind of glad the guy who shot me is still alive, too. I don’t want to kill nobody,” he reiterated to WJBK.
Attorney Jim Makowski weighed in on the incident, asserting to WXYZ that it was “absolutely” a case of self-defense on Nevers’ part.
“The homeowner acted completely responsibly. He identified a threat, he armed himself, and when the threat materialized, he opened fire, and it was a good shoot,” Makowski stated.
On the legal front, Phillip Price is facing a staggering 21 felony charges related to the invasion, including two counts of assault with intent to murder, according to WXYZ.
Price is currently in custody with no bond, as authorities continue their search for a second suspect involved in the crime.

If you don’t.
Kill him, they repeat the crime. You are kind of ignorant to be happy. He didn’t I.You could have stopped several other people from being shot by this worthless piece of shit if you would have just shot him in the head
Possibly, the worst wound was to the lady in the same room. Reminds me of another bedroom encounter with a home invader. As recounted by the husband’s wife, a man armed with a shotgun had entered their bedroom with both of them in the bed. Her husband, she said, was really fast with his .357 magnum revolver. He emptied the gun with six rounds, but only two made impact with the intruder, one shot to one arm, the other hit a leg. The shotgunner had not returned fire during her husband emptying his weapon. The intruder then shot her husband dead in the chest, killing him. He then walked out to his vehicle and drove away. The mystery was, WHY he did not also kill the wife? That shooting was in ‘spitting distance,’ and reveals how NOT ready many people are that mistakenly think they are well prepared by just having a gun! Punching holes in paper targets, that don’t shoot back, will NEVER prepare you for that “adrenaline dump” that happens in that ‘FIGHT OR FLIGHT,’ ‘life or death,’ encounter occurs!
WTH is the video?
