Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee are taking a stand against government overreach and protecting the privacy rights of American citizens.
In a video released by the committee, it was revealed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been searching through phone records of Americans without a judge’s approval, in clear violation of their Fourth Amendment rights.
The video, which has since gone viral, shows members of the committee discussing their plans for major reform to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which gives the government broad powers to collect information on foreign targets.
However, this authority has been repeatedly abused by government agencies to spy on American citizens without proper oversight.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, stated in the video, “We have seen time and time again how this FISA process has been abused and used to target political enemies.”
He went on to explain that they are working on legislation that would make it illegal for the FBI to access Americans’ phone records without first obtaining a warrant from a judge.
This proposed reform comes after multiple instances where government agencies have used FISA warrants to spy on members of President Trump’s campaign team during the 2016 election.
The infamous Steele dossier, which was funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and used as evidence for obtaining these warrants, has since been debunked as false information.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), another member of the House Judiciary Committee, also expressed his support for reforming FISA in order to protect Americans’ constitutional rights. “We need strong safeguards in place to prevent government agencies from abusing their power and targeting innocent Americans,” he said.
In addition to requiring warrants for accessing phone records, the proposed legislation would also increase accountability and transparency in the FISA process.
It would require all FISA applications to be made available to members of Congress, as well as allowing individuals targeted by FISA warrants to have access to the evidence used against them.
The video has sparked outrage among American-loving patriots who value their privacy and are concerned about government overreach. Many took to social media to express their support for the proposed reform and their frustration with the FBI’s actions.
One Twitter user wrote, “This is a blatant violation of our rights as American citizens. Thank you House GOP for fighting back against this tyranny.” Another commented, “I am appalled by the lack of oversight in our government. We need stricter laws in place to protect our privacy.”
The House Judiciary Committee plans to introduce this legislation in the coming weeks and push for its passage through Congress.
They are confident that it will receive strong support from their Republican colleagues and hope that Democrats will put aside partisan politics and join them in protecting Americans’ constitutional rights.
As Rep. Jordan stated, “This is not a Republican or Democrat issue, this is an issue of protecting the fundamental rights of all Americans.”
The House GOP remains committed to upholding these rights and ensuring that government agencies do not abuse their power at the expense of American citizens.

And no one will ever be held accountable in any meaningful way…as usual…there needs to be criminal charges attached to violations of the American people’s constitutional rights and those charges need to carry hefty penalties including large fines and extended imprisonment…until that happens, nothing will change
