Authorities reported that two children tragically lost their lives and multiple individuals sustained injuries after an intoxicated driver collided with a building hosting a child’s birthday celebration in Berlin Charter Township, Michigan.
The incident occurred at the Swan Boat Club on Saturday. Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough confirmed that the vehicle, identified as a dark-colored SUV, crashed into the facility where an eight-year-old girl and five-year-old boy, who were siblings, were present.
Eyewitness footage captured the SUV speeding through the parking lot just before the devastating crash.
Goodnough reported that 13 individuals were injured in the incident, with nine of them requiring transportation to a hospital due to severe, life-threatening injuries.
This group included three children and six adults.
At a press conference, Goodnough provided additional information about the suspect and the charges related to the case.
The 66-year-old female driver of the vehicle, who will not be identified at this time, has been taken into police custody for operating while intoxicated causing death, and she’s lodged at the Monroe County Jail. Additional criminal charges will likely be brought against the driver as the investigation proceeds. At this time investigators are continuing to process evidence at the scene, identify victims, interview witnesses, and reunite family members.
The scene was described by the first responders as extremely chaotic with high level of emotions of those directly involved and those who witnessed this horrific incident.
The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old woman who remains unnamed, has been arrested for causing death while operating under the influence.
She is currently held at the Monroe County Jail and may face further charges as the investigation progresses.
Authorities are working to process evidence, identify victims, interview witnesses, and support affected family members.
The first responders noted that the scene was highly chaotic and emotional for those involved and witnesses.

The fact that the woman hasn’t been identified nor anything about her revealed means she isn’t white, straight, conservative, or MAGA supporter!!!!!
