During a town hall interview with Oprah Winfrey, Vice President Kamala Harris revealed a surprising personal detail that many see as contradictory to her long-standing stance on gun control.
Known for advocating stricter gun laws, Harris admitted she is a gun owner and would use her firearm to defend her home if necessary, sparking accusations of hypocrisy.
Harris, who has supported measures such as mandatory gun buybacks and an assault weapons ban, made the unscripted remark during the conversation.
When Oprah asked about her stance on guns, Harris responded with a revelation that caught many off guard. “I’m a gun owner. Tim Walz is a gun owner,” she said, referencing the Governor of Minnesota. Oprah, visibly surprised, replied, “I did not know that.”
The interview took an even more unexpected turn when Harris added, “If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot.”
Realizing the weight of her statement, Harris laughed nervously and tried to downplay the moment. “I probably shouldn’t have said that. My staff will deal with that later,” she said, attempting to backtrack.

This admission is drawing criticism from those who point out the contradiction in Harris’s rhetoric.
For years, she has championed gun control policies, pushing for tighter restrictions on firearms and advocating for an assault weapons ban.
Yet, in this candid moment, she acknowledged her readiness to use a gun for self-defense, a stance that seems at odds with her public calls for restricting access to firearms.
The Trump campaign quickly seized on the moment, sharing the clip on social media, with many pointing to it as an example of what they call “liberal hypocrisy.”
Critics argue that Harris’s willingness to use a gun to protect herself underscores the inconsistency in her approach to gun rights.
While she has called for measures that would make it harder for law-abiding citizens to own firearms, she simultaneously enjoys the protection of one herself.
The timing of this revelation is notable, as it comes on the heels of a recent presidential debate where Harris defended her gun control policies.
Former President Donald Trump criticized Harris for her stance on the Second Amendment, claiming she would push to take guns away from Americans.
In response, Harris attempted to deflect the accusation by highlighting her own status as a gun owner. “Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We’re not taking anybody’s guns away,” she said during the debate, calling Trump’s claims “continuous lying.”
However, Harris’s comments during the town hall have reignited the debate over her true intentions regarding gun control.
Many see her remarks as proof that she wants to have it both ways—advocating for restrictive gun laws while personally benefiting from the protection of her own firearm.
The tension between her public policies and personal admissions has left many questioning where she truly stands.
Despite this moment of candor, Harris has continued to push for tighter gun regulations. In the days following the town hall, she reiterated her support for an assault weapons ban and universal background checks, arguing that such measures are consistent with the Second Amendment.
“I feel very strongly that it is consistent with your right to own a gun to also say we need an assault weapons ban,” she said, labeling certain firearms as “tools of war.”
Harris’s dual stance on gun ownership raises important questions about the balance between personal safety and public policy.
While she insists that reasonable gun laws do not infringe on Second Amendment rights, her remarks suggest a more complex relationship with the issue.
For critics, this latest revelation only underscores what they see as her ongoing inconsistency on gun control.

Laws for you but not for me…typical communist democrat answer
most dangerous is a democrat with a gun as they destroy America for china and iran and russia, any vote for any democrat is a vote to turn America into a 3rd world nation. period!
She will defend her home, but everyone else isn’t allowed to do that. really Kamala. Iwould check and see iff her gun is legal and if she has a lisence to even own one. From what state is is from, if it’s California then she took it out of state. aren’t there rules about that?
