President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are facing criticism after failing to personally reach out to Gold Star families on the anniversary of the chaotic and deadly U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The withdrawal, which took place in August 2021, resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. service members and left a lasting impact on the families who lost loved ones.
The absence of direct communication from the administration has sparked outrage among some military families and veterans’ groups, who feel that the sacrifices of those who died during the operation have been overlooked. Many expected a formal acknowledgment or personal outreach from the nation’s leaders, particularly given the ongoing pain and grief experienced by the affected families.
Critics argue that the lack of outreach is indicative of a broader failure to adequately address the fallout from the withdrawal, which has been widely criticized for its execution and aftermath. The event marked a significant and controversial moment in Biden’s presidency, and the missed opportunity to connect with Gold Star families has only added to the scrutiny.
Now it seems like rather than trying to fix the situation, the Kamala Harris team decided to pour salt into the wounds.
According to Red State:
A Kamala Harris aide decided to lean further into the story surrounding Gold Star families and Donald Trump visiting Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony in question was held in honor of the 13 American service members who were killed during the Afghanistan withdrawal, a decision Harris has long bragged about being the “last person in the room” for.
The smart move would have been to drop the issue, but on Monday, NBC News released a report citing a Harris aide claiming that the vice president wasn’t invited to be there. That was meant to push back on Sen. Tom Cotton’s claim on Sunday that both Harris and Joe Biden had the opportunity to show up.
Gold Star families did not invite President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to Arlington National Cemetery by last week to commemorate the third anniversary of the attack at Abbey Gate in Afghanistan, a White House official and a Harris aide told NBC News, rebutting separate claims made Sunday by GOP Sen. Tom Cotton and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
Whether that’s true or not is hard to pin down. For context, the mother-in-law of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee (who was a victim of the suicide bombing at the Abbey Gate) said in her video statement that she couldn’t get Harris to return her calls. Was there an attempt to invite both the president and vice president that got scuttled simply because the administration continues to stonewall the Gold Star families involved? That’s certainly a possibility.

It’s clear that the focus is misplaced, missing the larger issue at hand. Vice President Harris didn’t even attend the dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base, despite having taken credit for the withdrawal that led to the deaths of the service members. It was always unlikely she would participate in this wreath-laying ceremony, and everyone knew it. Given that she hasn’t been returning calls from the families, it’s no surprise she didn’t receive a formal invitation—reaching out requires picking up the phone.
It’s puzzling why Harris continues to engage with this topic. The better approach from the start would have been to stay silent and let the issue fade away. By attacking Trump, and indirectly the Gold Star families who requested the photos, Harris has reignited a story that only harms her. Criticizing Gold Star families is never a good look, and using the media to do so through anonymous sources (in this case, an aide) only makes it worse.
Kamala Harris’s qualifications for the presidency have been called into question on both moral and technical grounds. Morally, critics argue that her track record as a prosecutor and attorney general reveals a troubling pattern of prioritizing political ambition over justice. From her controversial decisions in cases involving wrongful convictions to her perceived inconsistency on key issues like criminal justice reform, Harris’s actions have raised concerns about her integrity and commitment to ethical leadership. Many believe that her willingness to shift positions based on political convenience, rather than principle, undermines her moral authority to lead the nation.
Technically, Harris’s experience and performance in her current role as Vice President have also been scrutinized. Her handling of critical responsibilities, such as addressing the root causes of migration and managing the U.S.-Mexico border crisis, has been widely criticized as ineffective and lacking in strategic direction. Additionally, her public appearances have often been marked by gaffes and perceived unpreparedness, raising doubts about her ability to handle the complexities of the presidency. Critics argue that these shortcomings highlight a lack of the necessary experience, leadership skills, and competence required to effectively govern the country.

Harris and Biden are dumb and dumber! We have the worst inflation in decades, we have lost our energy independence, high crime in mall our major cities , destroyed our strategic energy reserves, continue to destroy our fishing grounds and farmlands with failing renewable energy programs, made the US into a weak and laughable clown show on the world stage, lost our sovereign nation and security with an open border policy, allowed over 15 million illegal aliens to enter our country to include criminal gangs, human traffickers, drug dealers , known terrorists, allowed the two wars to continue with no end in sight, continue to allow terrorists to hold US citizens hostage, allowed a chaotic retreat from Afghanistan causing 13 senseless deaths of our servicemen and women, left behind 89 billion dollars’ worth of military weapons and hardware for our enemies and using lawfare to attack political enemies. In addition, they have corrupted our ability to hold fair and honest elections. I’m sure I may have left a few things out of this list; however I think you’ve got the picture. A CORRUPT DEMOCRATIC PARTY and ADMIISTRATION!!!
