Nashville-based country singer Maren Morris shared a series of photos from a recent trip to Bali, describing herself in the caption as “not healed but healing.”
The 36-year-old posted the images to Instagram, thanking “@rachelbeauregard + @hotyogaeastnashville for the most beautiful journey to Bali with so many new friends for life,” and adding, “And it’s not over yet.”
The photo set included a shot of Morris in a black string bikini on a deck, along with images from a group meditation session, a waterfall visit, and casual moments with friends. Fans responded in the comments, with one writing “She’s thrivinggggggg (and surviving)” and another saying, “So happy to see this journey for you.”
Morris did not specify what prompted the “healing” reference in her post. She broke through in 2016 with “My Church,” the lead single from her debut album “Hero,” which also produced “80’s Mercedes,” “I Could Use a Love Song” and “Rich.” She has since released three more studio albums — “Girl,” “Humble Quest” and “D R E A M S I C L E” — and has earned 17 Grammy nominations with one win.
In an August 2025 interview with People promoting “D R E A M S I C L E,” Morris described the record as deeply personal, touching on her sexuality and her divorce from Ryan Hurd.
“It’s just cool; it’s a very intimate record, very vulnerable, not the easiest to make — so the fact that people are receiving it this well and healing from my healing is really special, to get to see the live form of that that place now.”
Morris has also been candid about tension with Nashville’s country music establishment over her politics. In a TikTok posted in January, she said her mental health has suffered from being “so deeply concerned and uncomfortable with the weird status quo of country music.” She said she now avoids many award shows, calling them “dicey” since the genre’s political atmosphere shifted following President Trump’s first term.
“I’ve lost a lot of fans over the years because of my viewpoints and I think that’s fair. If you don’t agree with me, and you can’t enjoy my music because of my viewpoints, you are absolutely allowed to do that.”
Morris has drawn criticism over her political stances before. In 2024, she faced calls for her arrest after bringing her young son to a drag show. She defended the decision on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” saying the event was age-appropriate.
“I think it’s just such an amazing expression of artistry, and so I just think like normalizing it and making it seem like these are just people that love dressing up, too, is an amazing thing. It was an all-ages show, so it was completely family-friendly.”
