Donald Trump is taking an active role in pushing for Matt Gaetz’s confirmation as Attorney General, reportedly making direct calls to Republican senators to secure their support. According to a report from Axios, Trump is heavily invested in Gaetz’s nomination and is leveraging his influence to ensure its success.
Among those Trump has personally contacted is North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer, who shared insights into the former president’s determination.
“He clearly wants Matt Gaetz,” Cramer told Axios. “He believes Gaetz is the fearless and ferocious leader needed to reform the Department of Justice.”
Cramer emphasized that Trump’s advocacy is not a mere political maneuver. “People should never mistake Trump’s support for a nominee as a tactical tool. He’s putting his own political capital behind this,” he added.
Another unnamed Republican senator confirmed receiving a similar call, with Trump urging a vote in favor of Gaetz.
Gaetz’s nomination has sparked significant debate within the GOP. Known for his staunch loyalty to Trump and his hardline conservative stances, Gaetz’s selection as AG has delighted Trump’s base but raised concerns among establishment Republicans.
The Florida congressman has long been a controversial figure, earning praise for his outspoken approach while facing intense scrutiny over various allegations.
Following the announcement, Gaetz tweeted: “It will be an honor to serve as President Trump’s Attorney General!” along with a photo of himself standing with Trump.
Despite Trump’s strong backing, Gaetz’s path to confirmation appears uncertain.
With Republicans holding 53 seats in the Senate, Gaetz will need near-unanimous support from his party. However, moderate Republicans like Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, often labeled as RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) by Trump loyalists, are unlikely to support his nomination.
Murkowski and Collins have clashed with Trump in the past and are expected to oppose Gaetz, further complicating his confirmation prospects.
Adding to the challenge are ongoing efforts by Gaetz’s detractors to block his nomination. Critics are citing past allegations, including claims of involvement in a sex trafficking operation—allegations that have not resulted in criminal charges but have been politically damaging.
Moreover, Gaetz is reportedly the subject of a yet-to-be-released House Ethics Committee report, which could provide additional ammunition for his opponents.
Should Gaetz secure the role, he is expected to lead an aggressive campaign against perceived corruption within the Department of Justice and FBI. Trump supporters anticipate a significant shift in the department’s focus under Gaetz’s leadership, targeting individuals they accuse of partisan overreach during Trump’s previous term.
One of Gaetz’s likely first targets would be Special Counsel Jack Smith, whom Trump has repeatedly criticized. Smith led investigations into Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, which Trump and his allies continue to label as fraudulent.
In anticipation of Gaetz’s possible confirmation, NBC News reported that several senior officials within the DOJ and FBI have begun hiring criminal defense attorneys. This move suggests that many within the agencies are preparing for an intensified scrutiny under a Trump administration.
Trump’s decision to personally lobby for Gaetz underscores the high stakes of this nomination. Gaetz’s appointment would not only serve as a litmus test for Trump’s influence over the GOP but also signal a dramatic shift in the Justice Department’s direction.
For Trump, Gaetz represents a loyal ally who shares his vision of a reformed DOJ, one that he believes has been weaponized against conservatives. However, for the broader Republican Party, Gaetz’s confirmation battle could expose internal fractures, especially as moderate senators weigh their political futures against the wishes of Trump’s base.
Whether Gaetz ultimately secures the role or faces insurmountable opposition, the nomination process is set to be a defining moment in Trump’s return to the political stage. It will reveal not only the strength of his influence but also the direction the Republican Party is willing to take under his leadership.
For Trump supporters, the possibility of Gaetz as Attorney General signals a long-awaited reckoning. With promises of holding DOJ officials accountable and targeting figures like Jack Smith, Gaetz’s confirmation could mark a pivotal moment in reshaping America’s justice system.
However, the road to confirmation is fraught with obstacles, and the outcome will likely have far-reaching implications for the nation’s political and legal landscape. As Trump continues his personal lobbying campaign, all eyes remain on the Senate as the battle for the Attorney General position heats up.

Of course the aforementioned Rino’s and the Demoncrap Party are going to resist this confirmation which is very telling in and of itself of where their true loyalty lies and a true indicator of all of the criminal baggage they’ve been carrying for many years; because, they know if he is confirmed “they’re going down in flames LICKETY-SPLIT!”
God bless the Trump team, and “let justice be done” as the approaching “winds of justice” are howling!
Amen.
Ecclesiastes 8:10-12 “Then too, I saw the burial of the wicked who used to go in and out of the holy place, and they were praised in the city where they had done so. This too is futile. 11When the sentence for a crime is not speedily executed, the hearts of men become fully set on doing evil. 12Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and still lives long, yet I also know that it will go well with those who fear God, who are reverent in His presence.”
Psalms 37:28 “For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.”
Amen.
Trump really rattled the trees with the Gaetz pick. All the Leftists, RINO’s and their Marxist sycophants fell to the ground screaming, ‘Not fair, he will be too tough!’
MAGA enemies will be easy to identify and target.
How about just calling the 20 Republican clowns that confirmed Merrick Garland?
Let’s start there.
Trump is only President elect. None of his choices can be approved. Nothing can be done until next January when he takes the oath of Office, The Attorney General there now works for Biden, You can not have two people in the same office,
Garland should be impeached and tried at GITMO them summarily executed for High Treason!
Broke his sworn oath of office to defend and uphold the US Constitution and protect the American Citizens along with breaching many laws of the land on top of that! There is no doubt that he deserves a trial by Military Tribunal and the immediate appropriate sentencing that ends it all for him!
