Venezuelan politician Freddy Superlano, a member and national coordinator of the opposition party Voluntad Popular, was reportedly taken into custody by force, as confirmed by the group on X.
The detention occurred amidst escalating turmoil in the country following Venezuela’s controversial elections on Sunday.
President Nicolas Maduro and his party declared victory despite lacking documentation to substantiate their claim.
The initial reports of Superlano’s arrest surfaced through a widely circulated video on various social media platforms, depicting the opposition member being forcefully ushered into a car by six masked individuals in Caracas, the capital city.
Subsequently, the party officially acknowledged the detention and condemned it as a kidnapping related to his involvement in previous elections.
