Caitlyn Jenner, the Olympic gold medalist turned reality TV star and outspoken Republican, has stirred speculation about a possible 2026 gubernatorial run in California. In a series of posts on social media, Jenner hinted at the idea of making another bid for the governor’s office, expressing confidence in her chances and even addressing rumors of Vice President Kamala Harris entering the race.
Jenner previously ran for California governor during the 2021 recall election against Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. Despite widespread media attention, her campaign failed to gain traction, earning just 1% of the vote. However, the political landscape in California has shifted, with Republican candidates making inroads even in traditionally liberal counties.
This trend appears to have reignited Jenner’s political ambitions.
“Should we do it again?” Jenner tweeted, adding, “I’ve been getting a lot of calls with strong opinions.” In another tweet, Jenner declared, “Newsom is out in 2026,” referring to the current governor, who will be term-limited after his second term.
Jenner emphasized her alignment with the Republican Party, writing, “The MAGA / America First movements are not nearly as bigoted as the intolerant left. If I were to run, it would be proudly as a Republican. We are the big tent party of common sense, for ALL!”
Jenner didn’t stop at teasing her own candidacy; she also addressed the possibility of facing Vice President Kamala Harris in a gubernatorial race. According to a report by Politico, Harris has been gauging interest among allies for a potential return to California politics.
“If I ran, and it was ultimately against Harris, I would destroy her,” Jenner boldly claimed on social media.
Harris, whose presidential aspirations have been marred by poor polling and lackluster support, could view the California governor’s seat as a political reset. However, Jenner’s direct challenge suggests she is ready to position herself as a formidable opponent.
Jenner’s potential run comes at a time of increasing division in California politics. The state, long considered a Democratic stronghold, has seen a resurgence of Republican influence in some areas, particularly in counties that leaned more conservative in recent elections.
As a high-profile transgender woman and staunch Republican, Jenner occupies a unique space in American politics. She has faced criticism from both sides of the political spectrum: progressives have lambasted her for supporting Republican policies, while some conservatives have been slow to embrace her identity.
Jenner, however, has consistently defended her positions, particularly her support for former President Donald Trump and her critique of Democratic policies. “We are the party of inclusion and common sense,” she said in a recent tweet.
Despite her enthusiasm, Jenner would face significant hurdles in a gubernatorial bid. Her 2021 campaign struggled with organization and messaging, and many Californians viewed her as more of a celebrity than a serious political contender.
Additionally, California remains a heavily Democratic state, with registered Democrats outnumbering Republicans nearly two to one. Any Republican candidate would need to appeal to a broad coalition of moderates and independents to have a realistic shot at winning statewide office.
Caitlyn Jenner’s life has been a tale of reinvention. Born Bruce Jenner, she gained fame as a world-class athlete, winning the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics. Decades later, in 2015, she made headlines again by publicly coming out as a transgender woman, becoming one of the most recognizable faces of the LGBTQ+ movement.
However, Jenner’s alignment with conservative politics has drawn criticism from some in the LGBTQ+ community, who argue her positions conflict with the movement’s broader goals. Jenner has dismissed these criticisms, asserting that her political beliefs reflect her values and vision for a better America.
Jenner’s social media posts suggest she is seriously considering another run, but no formal announcement has been made. If she does enter the race, her candidacy will undoubtedly generate significant attention, both for her policies and her status as a cultural icon.
As the 2026 gubernatorial race takes shape, all eyes will be on California’s political scene, where Jenner could once again attempt to defy expectations and reshape her legacy. Whether facing Kamala Harris or another Democratic contender, Jenner’s potential campaign promises to be one of the most closely watched contests in the nation.
“MAKE CA GREAT AGAIN!” Jenner proclaimed, echoing the sentiments of the movement she hopes to lead. For now, Californians will have to wait and see if the former Olympian and reality star is ready to enter the political arena once more.

Would love to see Jenner run against Harris. Jenner is a trans woman but realizes that male physiology should not compete against born females. U4nner is strongy against men in women’s sports. Jenner could bring some sanity back into California.
Bring sanity back to California is exactly why Jenner will not win. After all, the voters had a chance to dump Newsom on recall but kept him. I think they deserve Harris.
If I lived in California, I would vote for Jenner any day over Cackling Kamala who would just be another Newsom.
Kamala blew through $1 billion plus, in a hundred days, and lost everything. She couldn’t defeat Pat Brown.
Funny….., using “Kamala” and “blew” in the same sentence.
Using “Kamala” and “defeat” in the same paragraph is redundant.
Yeah, Harris should be band from ever running for any political office and should be investigated for malfeasance and charged with this crime and arrested. OH, I forgot the demon rat democrats are immune from being prosecuted for their crimes against its citizens and OUR NATION. PUT HER IN JAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
