DHS to Speed Up Deportations of Immigrants Admitted Under Biden’s Parole Expansion

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently made headlines with a significant policy shift concerning immigration. Under the directive of acting DHS Secretary Benjamin Huffman, immigration officials are mandated to reassess the parole statuses of over a million individuals.

This move could potentially expedite the deportation of those who were initially allowed to enter the United States temporarily through humanitarian parole programs, which had been expanded under the Biden administration.

The directive specifically targets about 1.4 million immigrants, including over half a million from countries like Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. These individuals were admitted under the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) parole program, as well as nearly a million others who entered through the CBP One app’s scheduling feature. Both methods of entry were previously halted by former President Donald Trump, aligning with his strict immigration policies aimed at curbing illegal entry into the country.

Since President Joe Biden took office in 2021, his administration has utilized immigration parole extensively. Officials have defended the expansion of these programs as a means to manage migration more effectively and humanely, reducing illegal immigration while responding to international crises.

However, Republican leaders have accused the administration of overstepping the intended use of parole laws, which they argue should be applied more sparingly.

The recent memo from Huffman provides guidance on implementing two DHS policies introduced in late January. One policy, detailed in a January 20 memo, allows DHS components to “pause, modify, or terminate” any parole program, with certain legal conditions. This move marks a shift towards stricter immigration enforcement, a priority for the current administration.

The second policy, as outlined in a DHS notice on January 21, authorizes the expedited removal of illegal immigrants who cannot demonstrate at least two years of continuous presence in the United States and who are located within 100 miles of the border. This policy aims to streamline the removal process, focusing on individuals who have not established long-term ties in the country.

Huffman’s directive instructs DHS components, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to review cases of aliens eligible for expedited removal but not yet in the process. Officials are encouraged to use their discretion to determine whether expedited removal should be applied, potentially leading to the termination of ongoing removal proceedings or active parole statuses.

Moreover, the memo advises immigration officials to examine the cases of other aliens who, while not meeting the expedited removal criteria, may have been granted parole under programs subject to suspension or modification. The goal is to decide whether such individuals should be placed in removal proceedings.

This approach aligns with the administration’s commitment to deport individuals residing in the United States illegally. The policy concerning the expedited removal of those unable to prove continuous presence has already faced legal challenges.

On January 22, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a lawsuit, seeking to have the policy declared unconstitutional and to halt its enforcement.

The legal battle underscores the contentious nature of immigration policy in the United States, reflecting deep divisions between those advocating for stricter border controls and those championing more compassionate immigration solutions. The upcoming court decisions will likely have significant implications for the future of immigration enforcement in the country.

As the situation unfolds, the DHS’s actions will continue to be closely monitored by both supporters and critics. The outcome of these efforts will undoubtedly shape the landscape of U.S. immigration policy, with potential ramifications for millions of individuals and their families.

The administration’s stance on immigration, particularly concerning parole programs, highlights the ongoing debate over national security, humanitarian concerns, and the rule of law.

With the DHS’s directive now in effect, the coming months will reveal how these policies impact the broader immigration system and the country’s approach to managing its borders.

Note: Politicians, bureaucrats, academicians, and most media folks, suggest most of you best do your research and educate yourselves on the details of envelopment operations for that is what Donald is bringing to American government at every level (see message below). At least dig your foxholes deeper and add overhead cover. Have a nice day. Soldier/Cop, Retired

OUR LAST HOPE, A TRUE BATTLE CAPTAIN!

America, we are once again on the path to make America great again. Why? Because over 75 million of us have re-elected the very first true ‘Battle Captain’ to ever serve as our President and Commander-in-Chief. Why do I say Donald Trump is our first true Battle Captain? Because, Donald Trump is the first president to regularly demonstrate that the ‘Seven C’s of Leadership’ are a part of his character. The ‘Seven C’s of Leadership’ listed in the order of their importance as determined in a 1980 survey of 1645 ground combat veterans are: CANDOR, COMPETENCE, COMMITMENT, CONSISTENCY, COURAGE, COMPASSION, and COURTESY.

As one of the army officers charged with finding a true Battle Captain among all those army officers serving this nation from the Revolutionary War through the Vietnam Conflict, I can testify that we only found one officer who made the grade of ‘Battle Captain’. And, he like Donald Trump was not a professional soldier. A year before the Battle of Gettysburg he was a college professor, yet most historians credit him for saving the Union Forces left flank and forcing General Lee to commit his forces to a frontal attack which failed. The Battle of Gettysburg is generally credited as the turning point of the Civil War and lead to the surrender of the Confederate Forces two years later.

Donald Trump has proven that he is indeed a Battle Captain. He has turned the attacks on our flanks and now I am confident he will succeed in an overwhelming envelopment of all the forces trying to destroy America. God bless and protect Donald Trump, and God Bless and protect America as we help Donald Trump make America great again. I leave you with one question. Are you willing to fight for America, your family, and/or yourself?

C.W. LAUDERDALE; thank you for this timely and historical perspective, and as my father always told me as I learned over time how right he was, “to always put things into their proper perspective;” that speaking of which you have surely done here!

America is at war once again internally, and I have felt for a little while now, that it was becoming “do or die time for our Constitutional Republic” which has been fighting on “multiple battle fronts simultaneously” for quite a while now!

And how President Trump could possibly be the last President of these “United States of America” or by the grace of God Almighty, perhaps he is that “True Battle Captain” you speak of that will usher in a “Great New Beginning” for this formerly “One Nation under God!” For this I pray!
    Amen.

LAWRENCE: Have modified my opening comment (see below). Now I wish I could share the plan a group of retired military officers presented to President Trump to clean up all levels of the United States Government. Unfortunately I have no faith that the average American can handle the process. Think most Americans are quite content to remain serfs to the world’s elites. Soldier/Cops, Retired

At least dig your foxholes deeper and add overhead cover. Also, those of you who support all the unchecked opposition to Donald Trump and/or his programs, and all you Rinos who ride on his coattails yet refuse to stand beside him better thank the Lord that Donald has refused (so far) to accept the “clean the swamp” plan submitted to him by a group of retired military officers. Have a nice day. Soldier/Cop, Retired
