Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow says he is pausing his relationship with Life Surge, a Christian-focused organization accused of pressuring people into paying thousands of dollars for advice without delivering results, after an investigation tied his name to the company’s alleged conduct.
The report, from investigative reporter Pablo Torre in collaboration with Mother Jones, alleged that Life Surge used Tebow as part of a predatory business model. According to Mother Jones’ reporting, Tebow spoke at 20 Life Surge events between 2024 and 2025 and was scheduled to appear at roughly as many in 2026.
“I think the allegations are extremely, extremely serious, and it’s something that we take very serious,” Tebow told The Gainesville Sun. “And so, for us, we’re having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship until we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more.”
The story has drawn criticism from radio host Craig Carton, who runs OutKick’s “The Craig Carton Show.” Carton did not dispute the substance of Torre’s investigation into Life Surge itself, but argued the reporting was unfair to Tebow because it did not establish that Tebow knew about or took part in any alleged wrongdoing.
“Tim Tebow doesn’t deserve to be dragged into this unless you got him nailed. And if you don’t have him nailed to the cross on this story, you have defamed him. And if I’m Tim Tebow, I find that to be actionable. I find that to be regrettable,” Carton said.
Carton, who called Torre a “brilliant investigative reporter,” said he accepted the allegations against Life Surge could be accurate and said law enforcement should look into the company.
“We need to get district attorneys involved and do a thorough, real investigation to see if they’re committing some type of predatory fraud against honest, God-fearing, blue-collar people who might be losing their life savings under the guise of religion,” Carton said. “That would be awful if that’s happening. But how dare you sully the name and reputation of a man who has only done things for others?”
Carton said the reporting effectively forced Tebow to issue a public statement and put his reputation at risk without proof he was complicit.
“When you go down that road and you sully the reputation of somebody who’s dedicated his entire life to service, that is a slippery slope that I want no part of,” Carton said. “So, you better have this locked down, Pablo, and maybe you do, but to throw out an allegation, attach a dude’s name to it? Shame on you.”
