Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is facing a new legal challenge as State Rep. Mesha Mainor of Georgia has filed a lawsuit against her, Commissioner Marvin Arrington, the Fulton County Ethics Board, and the county itself.
Mainor, who was elected as a Republican to the Georgia House in 2020, claims that they failed in their duties to properly handle a criminal case involving Mainor being stalked by a former friend and political associate.
The lawsuit details allegations of negligence in litigation.
A spokesperson for Mainor stated that further details about the lawsuit will be revealed during a press conference scheduled for Tuesday.
Mainor gained attention last year when she switched parties from Democrat to Republican, citing disagreements with what she described as Democratic radicalism and prioritization of illegal immigrants over American interests.
The lawsuit, filed in Fulton County Superior Court on April 2, outlines Mainor’s relationship with campaign volunteer Corwin Monson and their mutual connections over several years.
He promised Mainor assistance in her election campaign, but a month later she had to dismiss him due to his disruptive and aggressive behavior.
The lawsuit revealed that he engaged in stalking behaviors such as showing up uninvited to events, loitering near her home, making unwanted calls from different numbers, leaving voicemails, and even proposing in front of her children.
Despite never having a romantic relationship, he claimed to be in love with Mainor. Mainor obtained a Temporary Protective Order against him in August 2019, leading to his arrest for violating it in both September 2019 and 2020.
Subsequently, he was indicted for aggravated stalking and faces a potential 20-year imprisonment for the second aggravated assault charge in January 2021.
The lawsuit also accuses Arrington, who provided legal representation for the stalker, of using his influence to bypass the District Attorney’s office policies by copying the DA on emails, negotiating plea deals independently, and demanding meetings.
Newsweek added:
Arrington is also alleged to have told Willis “that b**** is crazy”, in reference to Mainor—claimed within the suit to have peddled his influence to in turn influence Willis.
After Willis was sworn in January 2021, she became responsible for the Monson case.
She reportedly dismissed one of his aggravated stalking cases. On the other charge, she offered a plea of three years with one year served in prison and the rest probation. Mainor said she was never informed of the plea deal, [which she] claimed to be a violation of the Georgia Crime Victims Bill of Rights.
“Furthermore, due to DA Willis’ bias towards Mr. Arrington, Plaintiff Mainor has experienced disparate treatment under the law as a victim,” the suit says. “Plaintiff Mainor has been forced to advocate for herself and her safety, although that is the District Attorney’s role.”
Willis has been facing increasing challenges in recent months, impacting her RICO case against former President Donald Trump.
Judge Scott McAfee, overseeing the case, mandated her to dismiss her attorney, Nathan Wade, due to their romantic involvement or remove herself and her office from the proceedings.
Wade chose to resign on the same day as the order.

The author and the editor need to pay more attention. The article claims State Rep. Mesha Mainor was elected as a Republican in 2020. It latter states she gained attention by switching from the Democrat party to the Republican party last year (3 years after the first statement claimed she was elected as a Republican). These statements directly contradict each other.
