On Friday, NFL reporter Michele Tafoya criticized pop star Taylor Swift after Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for the 2024 presidential election.
Swift, known for her political activism, shared her support for the Harris-Walz ticket on Instagram following the September 10th debate.
In her post to over 11 million followers, Swift emphasized the importance of making informed voting decisions. “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice,” Swift wrote, encouraging her audience to do the same ahead of the election.
However, Tafoya quickly responded, expressing her concerns about the Harris administration’s policies, particularly on immigration and public safety.
In a tweet directed at Swift, Tafoya questioned whether the singer considered the impact of these policies, specifically referencing immigration statistics.
She asked, “Did you factor this into your research? What about the victims of sexual assault? What about the 330,000 children who were lost thanks to Kamala’s open border?”

Tafoya’s criticism comes in light of troubling data recently shared by Acting ICE Director Patrick Lechleitner.
In a letter to Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales, Lechleitner revealed that over 13,000 illegal immigrants convicted of homicide and 15,000 convicted of sexual assault have been released into the U.S. during the Biden-Harris administration.
These individuals are part of ICE’s “non-detained docket,” which tracks convicted criminals who are not currently in ICE custody.
As of July 2024, there are over 662,000 noncitizens with criminal histories on ICE’s national docket, including 13,099 convicted of homicide.

These noncitizens, while awaiting immigration proceedings, remain free within the U.S., often for years before their cases are resolved.
In his statement, Lechleitner emphasized that ICE is prioritizing the removal of individuals who pose national security or public safety risks.
Between mid-May 2023 and July 2024, the Department of Homeland Security removed or returned over 893,600 individuals, including over 138,300 family units.
Despite these efforts, critics argue that the Biden administration’s immigration policies have failed to adequately protect public safety.
Republican lawmakers, including Congressman Gonzales, have voiced strong concerns about the growing number of dangerous criminals being released into the country.
Many believe that sanctuary city policies, which limit local law enforcement’s cooperation with ICE, are putting American lives at risk by preventing the deportation of violent offenders.
As the 2024 election approaches, the debate surrounding immigration, public safety, and national security continues to intensify.
With more than 13,000 convicted murderers and thousands of other dangerous criminals free within U.S. borders, the balance between effective immigration enforcement and protecting public safety remains a critical issue.
