Noah Wyle, the Emmy-winning star of “The Pitt,” has been named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2026. The 55-year-old actor appeared on the magazine’s cover Tuesday in an all-denim outfit.
“I thought that sounded like a prank — just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me,” Wyle said.
The actor, who rose to fame in the 1990s as Dr. John Carter on “E.R.,” joked that his family will give him grief over the title for decades to come. “I am going to take a lot of ribbing … for sure,” he predicted.
Wyle is a father of three. He shares son Owen, 23, and daughter Auden, 21, with his ex-wife, Tracy Warbin, and daughter Frances, 11, with his wife, Golden Globe winner Sara Wyle, whom he married in June 2014.
Wyle said his wife is pleased by the honor because it reflects well on her own judgment. “She thinks I’m a good guy and that the kind of person that I am and the kind of father I am, the kind of husband I am, is worth promoting,” he said.
Speaking about life at their home in California, Wyle described handling the dishes as his regular contribution to the household.
“I am the dish maven. The sink is my domain. And I would recommend more guys get into the dishwashing, because it’s very therapeutic.”
Wyle made the comments while appearing on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast on Tuesday to promote the magazine honor.
After “E.R.,” where he played Dr. John Carter for two decades starting at age 22, Wyle appeared in “Falling Skies” and other projects before returning to prominence last year as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch on “The Pitt.” The role has earned him four Emmys and a Golden Globe. The show’s first season premiered in January 2025, its second season aired earlier this year, and a third season is expected in about three months.
