A new survey from Honest Poll shows Vice President JD Vance leading the Republican field and former Vice President Kamala Harris leading the Democratic field in early 2028 presidential primary polling.
Among likely Republican voters, Vance draws 41 percent support. Donald Trump Jr. follows at 22 percent, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 17 percent. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis registers 7 percent, while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley each sit at 2 percent.
On the Democratic side, Harris leads with 32 percent support among likely voters. California Gov. Gavin Newsom is second at 21 percent, followed by former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 13 percent. New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez earns 9 percent, Rep. Jon Ossoff 6 percent, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro 5 percent.
The same poll measured President Trump’s approval rating at 43 percent among registered voters, with 56 percent disapproving. Among likely voters, his approval stands at 45 percent, with 55 percent disapproving.
On the generic congressional ballot ahead of November’s midterms, Republicans trail Democrats 40 to 50 percent among registered voters and 42 to 51 percent among likely voters, according to the poll.
The survey also asked respondents about the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Just 21 percent of those polled said they want the conflict to continue, while 69 percent said they want it to end.
