Sports media personality Stephen A. Smith expressed his concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris’s lack of engagement with the media during a recent episode of his podcast, “The Stephen A. Smith Show.”
Smith emphasized the importance of Harris addressing questions from the press, noting that it has been several weeks since Joe Biden assumed the presidency and yet Harris has not participated in any significant media interactions.
In an impassioned plea, Smith urged Harris to step forward and engage with the public through press conferences and one-on-one interviews.
He expressed disappointment that her appearances have been limited to pep rallies, suggesting that as a prominent figure in American politics, she should be more accessible to the public and media.
Smith said, “We’ve had one week, two weeks, three weeks and one day since Joe Biden stepped aside. The only damn place we’ve seen Kamala Harris is at pep rallies. What’s up? Somebody gotta say something and it can’t just be the conservatives. Right is right.”
Addressing Harris directly, Smith conveyed his support for her and underscored his belief in her capabilities as a candidate for the presidency.
However, he voiced frustration at what he perceived as her reluctance to engage with the media and address important issues facing the nation.
“I’m talking to my sister here. Come on now. You’re running for the presidency of The United States of America. You got my vote. You’re running for the presidency of the United States of America. What you hiding for? And I mean hiding in plain sight. Somebody gotta say it. Somebody gotta say it.”
He urged Harris to embrace transparency and accountability by allowing herself to be questioned by journalists on pertinent matters.
“Now, you can’t be running for the presidency of the United States. Not one single press conference. Not one single one-on-one sit-down interview where somebody gets to question you about the questions that we ask. That’s not fair. That’s not fair. If you’re a conservative and you’re out there lambasting her for it, ridiculing her for it, trying to torment her for it or whatever, it is perfectly within your right to do so. All of you anti-conservative out there shut the hell up! That’s a valid point.”
Smith acknowledged that critics from conservative circles have raised concerns about Harris’s limited engagement with the media, but he also cautioned against using her background or heritage as a basis for criticism.
He emphasized that it was essential to focus on substantive issues related to her record and policy positions rather than resorting to irrelevant attacks.
Throughout his commentary, Smith reiterated his unwavering support for Harris while also challenging her to demonstrate greater openness and accessibility.
Smith highlighted the significance of holding political figures accountable by subjecting them to scrutiny from journalists.
While acknowledging legitimate concerns about Harris’s engagement with the media, he emphasized the need for constructive dialogue focused on policy matters rather than irrelevant criticisms based on identity or background.
“It ain’t valid to bring up her Blackness, or Indian heritage, and to try to point the finger at that nature. That’s nonsense. But to ask her about her her record because she is attached to the Biden record is definitely apropos, especially when you were bragging about the record.”
Smith’s comments underscored a call for transparency and accountability from Vice President Kamala Harris as she continues her role in American politics.

Harris thinks she can get by with not answering questions or taking interviews, or debating. The american people have had enough & d eserve answers. She as a demo does not deal in reality or she would realize this. All she says are lies in her 4-5 speeches which are the same using a teleprompter. She has lied about immigration, illegals, being a prosecutor. Her whole campaign is based on the lies which she never did. Now, she has to answer for them along with Biden’s baggage.
