“Big Brother 28” contestant Yash Patel says he is not letting go of his frustration with fellow Houseguest Drew Campbell, who cast the deciding vote to remove him from the game during Thursday’s double eviction.
“In terms of the game, you best believe I have hard feelings towards him about that decision,” Patel, 24, told Page Six on Friday.
Patel, who works as a finance analyst outside the house, was quick to draw a line between game strategy and real life. “Everything that happened in that house stays in that that house,” he said. “Game is game. So I’m not gonna bring that into the real world.”
Patel ended up on the eviction block alongside Dee Valladares after nominee Rick Devens won the Power Veto competition and used it to save himself. Patel and his ally Taylor Brown pleaded with Campbell, 22, a surgical dental assistant, to keep Patel in the house. Campbell instead sided with Devens, 42, and voted to keep Valladares, 29.
Speaking with host Julie Chen Moonves during his exit interview, Patel said the vote didn’t feel like a personal betrayal because he never fully trusted Campbell to begin with.
Asked whether he considers Campbell a strong player, Patel didn’t hold back. “No. He plays a little weaselly. I don’t respect that kind of gameplay,” he said, before adding, “But hey, he outlasted me. I can’t really hate on it that much.”
Patel also noted that Campbell has maintained a close relationship with the “Icons” alliance throughout the season, which he said made Campbell’s choice to save Valladares unsurprising.
Not the only Houseguest with complaints
Patel isn’t alone in his skepticism of Campbell’s game. Fellow contestant Mallory Aurichio, 24, a rocket scientist, previously told Page Six she felt the most betrayed by Campbell of anyone in the house, following her own eviction during the show’s milestone 1,000th episode last month.
“I’m surprised about a lot of the stuff that Drew has done,” Aurichio said.
Aurichio accused Campbell of playing both sides of the house and feeding information to the “Icons” alliance, which includes Valladares, Devens and “Big Brother 26” alum Angela Murray. “I always knew he was tight with the ‘Icons’ and I knew he talked too much, but I had been kind of assuming he had my best interests and he didn’t,” she said.
“Big Brother 28” airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, with episodes available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
