As the 2024 presidential race heats up, Vice President Kamala Harris has faced growing scrutiny for her limited media engagement compared to her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump.
Critics on both sides of the political spectrum have noted that Harris, 59, has participated in only six sit-down interviews since President Joe Biden endorsed her candidacy on July 21.
This relative lack of media appearances has raised questions about her communication strategy as her campaign enters its final weeks.
Keisha Lance Bottoms, former Atlanta mayor and senior adviser for the Harris-Walz campaign, defended Harris’ limited media exposure during an appearance on CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper.
“She’s a very busy person,” Bottoms explained, noting that Harris’ dual role as vice president and presidential candidate leaves little time for frequent interviews.
Bottoms emphasized that while Harris may not be in front of the media as often, she is effectively communicating her policies through campaign rallies and speeches.
“We heard her today talk about her views on policies,” Bottoms said, referencing a speech Harris gave in Georgia. “It may not be in the format the media would prefer, but she’s been clear about her stance on reproductive freedom and other key issues.”
You can't make this up.

Harris’ media strategy contrasts sharply with that of Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance. Trump, 78, has conducted more than three times the number of interviews as Harris, with some lasting over an hour.
He recently had a high-profile discussion with Elon Musk on X Spaces that drew significant attention.
Vance has also made frequent media appearances, regularly participating in Sunday morning political talk shows. Together, Trump and Vance have participated in 55 interviews since late July, while Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have done 15.
This disparity has led to criticism from not only Republicans but also some Democrats and media outlets.
Publications like The New York Times and Axios have noted that Harris has been more reserved in her media interactions compared to Biden during his 2020 campaign.
CNN’s Jake Tapper pressed Bottoms on why Harris isn’t engaging with the media more often, particularly as voters may have lingering questions about her policies.
“Why isn’t she doing more interviews to address voter concerns?” Tapper asked.
Bottoms reiterated that Harris is a busy person with multiple responsibilities but acknowledged that the vice president has not conducted as many one-on-one interviews as some would prefer.
One area of concern for critics is Harris’ decision not to hold a formal press conference since becoming the Democratic nominee.
In contrast, Trump has held several press conferences, offering reporters more opportunities to question him directly.
Harris’ cautious media approach has sparked concern among political analysts, especially with the 2024 election expected to be closely contested. Some observers worry that her limited media engagement could hinder her ability to connect with undecided voters.
Despite the criticism, Harris has continued to reach out to key Democratic constituencies.
She recently participated in a lengthy conversation with Oprah Winfrey, joined by celebrities like Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Chris Rock, and Jennifer Lopez.

While this event aimed to rally support among core Democratic voters, it did little to quell concerns about her overall media strategy.
Bottoms and the Harris-Walz campaign have defended the vice president’s approach, arguing that she is focusing on direct voter outreach through rallies and speeches rather than traditional media formats.
As the election approaches, it remains to be seen whether Harris will adjust her media strategy in response to mounting pressure from political opponents and the press.

We know what kind of poop comes out of her mouth every time she opens it up. Her mind is no better than Biden’s and his late stage, and both are equally incompetent and evil.
