The Las Vegas Raiders are headed into the NFL’s November 10 trade deadline with no plans to deal away their top players, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
Schefter, appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show” Monday morning, said the team is pleased with its current roster and sees itself building toward something, not tearing it down.
“They’re not looking to trade their players. They feel like they’re building something. They’re winning,” Schefter said. “They like this; they’re not looking to get rid of these guys.”
The comments come after Las Vegas beat the New York Jets 38-33 on Sunday, pulling the team to .500 for the first time in November since 2021. One more game remains before the deadline hits.
Before that win, the Raiders had dropped four straight games, including a 30-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 and a 33-30 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 6. During that skid, quarterback Kirk Cousins and star edge rusher Maxx Crosby were both floated as potential trade pieces, and head coach Klint Kubiak faced pressure to bench Cousins in favor of rookie No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
A report from The Post’s Andrew Crane on Sunday morning, citing an anonymous source, said Crosby does not want to be traded out of Las Vegas.
Cousins answered the pressure on the field, throwing for four touchdowns against the Jets, including two to tight end Brock Bowers, and scoring his first rushing touchdown of the season. The performance put him just behind Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, who has 20 touchdown passes, for the most in the league.
Schefter said that production makes a trade of Cousins highly unlikely, particularly with Mendoza still developing behind him.
“Kirk Cousins is leading the NFL in touchdown passes. You’re not going to trade that guy,” Schefter said. “He’s a great example for Fernando Mendoza. They want to keep riding him, until they fall out of playoff contention. They wanna try to make the playoffs.”
Asked directly whether Cousins could be moved, Schefter was blunt: “No. Kirk Cousins, I don’t see as an option.”
