Former President Donald Trump was playing golf with friends when a second assassination attempt unfolded at his Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, was apprehended by police after reportedly fleeing the scene.
Authorities say Routh abandoned an AK-47-style rifle after Secret Service agents spotted the weapon’s muzzle protruding from the tree line near the course.
Routh fled to his car and tried to escape, but was quickly tracked down by law enforcement.
One of the biggest questions surrounding the incident is how Routh knew Trump would be golfing that day, as the outing was not part of Trump’s public schedule and was a last-minute decision.
During an interview with Fox and Friends, Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder called this the “million-dollar question,” speculating on the possibilities: “Either he got lucky, conducted surveillance, or had inside information about Trump’s plans.”
Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker shared similar concerns, stating that the possibility of someone providing Routh with inside information is “scary” and that the incident might involve more than just one individual.

Bodycam footage of Routh’s arrest, which has now been released, shows him surrendering with his arms in the air, walking backward toward police before being placed in handcuffs.
The footage also revealed that Routh had been on the golf course for up to 12 hours before the alleged attempt.

Despite Routh’s apparent intent, he has not been charged with attempting to assassinate Trump.
According to The Gateway Pundit, the Associated Press reported that Routh faces two federal gun charges: possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
It remains unclear why no charges related to an assassination attempt have been filed, though additional charges could come later.
The report also noted that Routh showed no remorse during his court appearance, reportedly smiling as he spoke with his public defender.

Another case of Secret Service involvement. You have a leak Mr. Trump. Godspeed. The Federal Government is corrupt, top to bottom.
